Complete Comprehensive Client History and Examination
Many people are nervous and maybe feel overwhelmed when visiting a doctor for the first time. You will discover once visiting our office all your previous worries and nervousness are no nowhere to be found here at McIver Chiropractic Center. You will be welcomed with a warm greeting as soon as you walk in. Upon arrival to the office, the staff will help gather all necessary forms for you. Once you are ready they will meet with Dr. Tim for a consultation. The consultation is simply a conversation regarding your health issues and concerns and is used as a base line to see if chiropractic might have a place in your life. If so, Dr. Tim will conduct a thorough case history to unveil the direct cause of the symptoms you present with. He will then conduct an educational and meaningful exam. Here, you will learn more about your body: the nerves, the musculoskeletal system, and how a misalignment may possibly be causing your symptoms. If needed, additional testing such as x-rays or CLA scans will be performed. These tests will often further explain the "whys" behind your symptoms and help create a blueprint for your treatment success.
Your first meeting will last about 20-40 minutes on average from beginning to end, including the consultation, exam, potential testing, and occasionally your initial chiropractic adjustment. This initial visit is foundational as it will offer our entire team the information to determine whether you are in the right place to get the proper care you need. If Dr. Tim thinks we can help, then we will invite you back for your second visit, at which time we will thoroughly review all the information gathered from your initial visit together. Dr. Tim will review with you, one-on-one, your exam findings and how they relate specifically to your symptoms and condition. He will then describe a customized program of care for you designed with your specific needs in mind, so that not only are your symptoms addressed, but the underlying cause as well. In addition we will answer any questions related to your care, recovery, cost, possible insurance coverage, and any other health concerns you may have. You are encouraged to bring a trusted loved one to the second meeting, two sets of ears is better than one.
With all that being said, we just want to make sure that you know exactly what to expect when enter our office, so listed below is a detailed explanation of each step.
NEW PATIENT FORMS
We encourage you to complete these New Patient Forms prior to your appointment time as this will save you about 15-20 minutes and you are able to conveniently take care of this from your home or office at your leisure. If you would rather wait until you get to our facility, that's fine too, and we have a nice seated front reception area for you to do this, where you may even enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on us. If for some reason you have any questions, a staff member will be happy to help over the phone or once you come in to our office. We look forward to meeting you in person!
During the initial Health Consultation we are here to listen and be supportive of all of your needs and concerns. Our intention is to get all relevant information and past medical history so we know whether we can help you. If we can't help you for some reason, we will certainly do everything in our power to find someone else that can. We have a variety of other health professionals we work closely with. Whether it's additional diagnostic imaging or some medical specialty that we need to refer you to, we will find the right care for you.
During our examination we will perform a meaningful and structural bio-mechanical chiropractic wellness exam. We couple this with a hands-on orthopedic and neurological assessment. These tests will help us to better pin point what is happening within your body. We will discuss our findings along the way to help you better understand the cause of your symptoms.
Occasionally, on the first visit we will take x-rays of your spine and any additional involved areas to get a whole picture idea of what your body looks like from the inside. With these x-rays we can then assess exactly where your biggest problems areas are and be able to better address your specific situation. We see these x-rays as the blueprint of your body, much like a builder or architect does. We will know with precision how to best treat you from the information gleaned here. We even utilize a state-of-the-art high-tech digital processing unit that allows us to take the sharpest images with the ability to zoom in, take extensive measurements, and show better contrast to the images so you can truly see what's happening.
CLA INSIGHT SCAN
Typically, on the first visit we perform three scans using state of the art thermography, surface electromyography (sEMG) and heart rate variability. See below for more information on the CLA Insight Scan we utilize in our office!
REPORT OF FINDINGS
If we think we can help you, you will be scheduled for your Report of Findings as soon as possible following your initial visit. This is when we will determine the best individually customized program of care consisting of your chiropractic treatments, stretching/home exercises techniques, and any possible nutritional recommendations. This is also a good time to ask any additional questions that you may have concerning your care or health and we encourage you to bring your spouse or close family so that they can better understand your specific condition. Lastly, we give patients a choice of corrective care or symptomatic care, and let them decide on how they want to best proceed with our recommendations. It is our ultimate goal to help all our patients achieve the best results possible. We look forward to working with you to help you get your back to living the life you always wanted to live.
Laying the foundation for total health
The new Core Score from CLA represents a powerful and simplified way to measure and report dramatic changes while under chiropractic care. Using the three most important measurements of spinal neural function, the Core Score can be generated in under 10 minutes and will give an accurate index to report from. A complete neural efficiency score collected from surface EMG, paraspinal thermal scans and Heart Rate Variability gives the clinician an accurate snapshot of how chronic stress is affecting the patient’s overall health.Because the Core Score uses validated, peer reviewed technologies, the practitioner can rely upon this index to report the damaging effects of the subluxation as well as the incredible power that adjustments and lifestyle modifications have in moving a patient towards wellness. TheCore Score is versatile in its application. It has been designed to look at the efficiency of central neural processing. Ideally this will show the doctor where stress is being stored and how deeply this neural-spinal stress is changing a patient’s health. By including Heart Rate Variability to the Core Score, the clinician can identify how much resiliency and reserve a patient has left and how balanced the entire autonomic nervous system is.
